At Mikaya Travels, our connection to the places we share goes beyond creating extraordinary journeys.
As a bespoke travel company, we believe in making thoughtful choices and contributing to the communities and conservation efforts that help protect the places we know and love.
We carefully select the organisations we support, taking the time to understand their work, conservation priorities and the initiatives they undertake. We want our contributions to be purposeful, directed towards causes we believe in and capable of making a meaningful difference.
Every client who travels with Mikaya is part of this commitment. Through our partnership with Travel for Impact, which contributes US$1 per bed night towards community development, and our ongoing support for BirdLife Botswana and WildEntrust, we honour the pledges we have made and continue to contribute towards community initiatives and wildlife conservation. We believe that when individual contributions come together, they can help support something greater.
For us, it is about more than individual journeys. It is about recognising the communities and natural heritage we are connected to, honouring our commitments and ensuring that our values are reflected in the way we do business.
Travel For Impact
We have pledged US$1 for every client bed night towards community development in Botswana. This commitment is one way we seek to share the benefits of tourism with the communities connected to the destinations we love. We see it as a practical contribution to the places and people who help make our journeys possible.
BirdLife Botswana
We contribute US$400 annually to BirdLife Botswana, supporting the organisation’s work in bird conservation and the protection of Botswana’s natural heritage. Birds are an important part of the ecosystems that make our destinations so remarkable, and we are pleased to support an organisation dedicated to their conservation.
WildEntrust
We contribute US$120 annually to WildEntrust, supporting its wildlife conservation work. The conservation of African Wild Dogs is particularly close to our hearts. These remarkable, endangered predators are an essential part of Africa’s wild landscapes, and their future matters deeply to us. We are proud to support conservation efforts dedicated to protecting wildlife and the ecosystems on which it depends.
